BJORN Borg believes Rafael Nadal will storm into the history books at the French Open, which starts here on Sunday, joining him as the only man to win four consecutive Roland Garros titles.
Borg, who performed the feat from 1978-1981, is not the only former champion expecting another Paris cruise for the formidable 21-year-old Spaniard.
Nadal's compatriot Carlos Moya believes that, barring injury, his countryman already has his name on the cup for the fourth time.
"Nadal looks extremely confident, extremely strong on the clay even right now, so that's definitely the guy to beat for Paris," Borg said.
"If he's as good as he looks right now and is going to continue, and stay away from injuries and be motivated, it's going to be tough to beat him at the French."
Moya, the 1998 French Open champion, believes Nadal, with 108 wins from 110 claycourt matches, has the physical and mental edge over Roger Federer, whom he has beaten in eight of their nine meetings on the surface.
"Mentally, Nadal is unbelievable, he copes very well with the pressure. I think if he is 100% fit, no one can beat him over five sets on clay."
Rome Masters and Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic, the world No. 3, who lost a nail-biting semi-final to Nadal in Hamburg last week, refuses to attach great significance to recent problems for the world's top two.
Federer has only the Estoril title to show for his effort this season and lost the Monte Carlo and Hamburg finals — both on clay — to Nadal.
Nadal had blisters during his second-round loss to Juan Carlos Ferrero in Rome before needing treatment for a calf injury in the Hamburg final, where he had trailed 5-1 in the first set.

Bjorn Borg crede che Nadal entrerà nei libri di storia dei French Open che iniziano questa domenica, unendosi a lui come unico giocatore a vincere 4 volte consecutive il ROLAND GARROS.
Borg che ha trionfato dal 1978 al 1981 non è il solo precedente campione che prevede un altro titolo a Parigi per il formidabile ventunenne spagnolo.
Carlos Moya compatriota di Nadal crede infortuni a parte, questo suo concittadino ha già scritto il suo nome nella coppa per la quarta volta.
“Nadal appare estremamente fiducioso e estremamente forte sulla terra proprio ora che è definitivamente l’uomo da battere per Parigi” Borg dichiara.
“Se gioca bene come ora continuerà a vincere a lungo, e se sarà risparmiato dagli infortuni e sarà motivato sarà veramente arduo il compito di batterlo a Parigi”
Moya vincitore nel 1998 degli Internazionali di FRANCIA crede che Nadal con 108 vittorie su 110 partire disputate sulla terra è fisicamente e mentalmente superiore a ROGER FEDERER che ha battuto 8 volte su 9 nei match su questa superficie.
Mentalmente Nadal è incredibile, gioca molto bene con la pressione.
Penso che se è al 100% in forma nessuno è in grado di batterlo sulla distanza dei 5 set sulla terra.
IL campione NAVAK Djokovic vincitore del Master di ROMA e degli OPEN D’AUSTRALIA il numero 3 attuale che ha perso in semifinale da Nadal ad Amburgo la scorsa settimana, allontanando cosi di fatto il significato di un attacco alla poltrona del numero due del mondo.
Federer ha vinto solo all’ESTORIL per mostrare i suoi sforzi di questa stagione e a perso a MONTECARLO e AMBURGO in finale entrambi eventi sulla terra e sempre da NADAL.
NADAL aveva un problema di vesciche ai piedi durante il suo secondo turno perso con JUAN CARLOS FERRERO a ROMA e prima del trattamento del fisioterapista per problemi al polpaccio durante la finale di Amburgo è stato capace di rimontare da 5-1 nel primo set.
